Partnership for Safe Medicines

During the past year, the Institute has explored a variety of ways to improve the public’s understanding of the nature and extent of the international counterfeit drug problem.

In an effort to provide better information on a consistent basis, PSI has begun to share information through its collaboration with the Partnership for Safe Medicines. The Partnership has developed an impressive suite of on-line tools which are highly recommended to the public. While a summary of these tools follows, they are available on-line to the general public at www.safemedicines.org.

• SafeMeds Alert System: a free email service that broadcasts counterfeit drug alerts from FDA.
• SAFEDRUG Checklist: an 8-step guide to boost your knowledge of your medicine safety and what to do in an emergency.
• VIPPS Pharmacies: a direct link to legitimate online pharmacies, recommended by FDA.
